How to Clean Slow Cooker

For people who are always on the go, the use of a slow cooker can help them in preparing quick yet delicious and healthy meals. However, without proper cleaning and maintenance, your crock pot may get damaged earlier than itís supposed to. If you want to maintain the quality of your cooker, then there are a number of ways that you can do it.

First of all, you can use a liner bag to minimize the need of cleaning. Place the liner bag in your slow cooker before adding the ingredients. Cooking can be done as usual, and after that you can simply toss the liner bag away. With the use of liner bags, your slow cooking pot only needs simple cleaning.

You can also use cooking spray to shorten up your cleaning time. All you need to do is to spray the vegetable cooking oil onto the inner surface of the slow cooker. You should do this right before adding in your ingredients as with the presence of oil, food wonít stick too much onto the wall of your pot. Even if you use a cooking spray, you will still need to do the cleaning, but the sticking can be removed much easier as it isnít glued to your cooker.

Another better way to clean up is by doing it right after serving your food. Food taken out from a crock pot is generally boiling-hot, so the temperature wonít be affected if you leave the food on the dining table for five minutes to clean your cooker. Be careful as this type of pot is able to retain heat even when it has been turned off for a few minutes. The best thing to do is to pour cold, tap water right over the pot so that it cools off quickly.

You can also clean by soaking it first. This is a great way of cleaning a crock pot as you allow the hardening food residue to soften in the water. The best cleaning tactic is to wash all your dishes before you clean the slow cooking pot. If you wash the slow cooker by hand, it might take a little time to complete the cleaning. However, the result is commonly amazing as you can remove every little stain and food residue from the wall of your slow cooking pot, ending up with a gleaming one.
