Breville BPR600XL Fast-Slow Cooker

What we like: When slow cooker is an essential gear for some busy users, Breville released more fabulous tools for more convenient life than ever! By combining the advantages of slow cooking and pressure cooking, this BPR600XL Fast-Slow cooker allows making various kinds of tasty recipes in single pot from programmable functions: sear, sauté, roast, steamer and slow cooking, as well as pressure cooking, with countdown timer. The setting is fool-proof. The BPR600XL comes with fully programmable 5 selectable modes: Sauté/Sear, Slow Cooker, Steam, Warm and Pressure Cooker. All you’ll need is basically choose a cooking method, setup timer, and press Start button- all done on LCD display panel. It has beeper when the cooking ends.

As a multi-purpose slow cooker, it performs quite well. The nonstick insert pot lets easy searing and sautéing before slow cooking which can be set for 6 to 8 hours. It will turn to Keep Warm mode for 30 minutes after finishing the setting time. While the stainless-steel steaming the basket and rack works great for preparing steamed seafood or veggies.

A most impressive feature is pressure cooking. This cooker is well designed for the duty – uncomplicated and safe. Like slow cooking, pressure pot can plainly work by selecting Pressure Cook mode, and adjusting controlling knob above the lid. There are 3 changeable pressure levels: High (for meat/lamp), Medium (for whole chicken) and Low (for seafood). The steam release valve is positioned away from the face preventing any burns and can manually work for loosing remaining pressure inside before open the lid. We feel affection for the safety-locked lid mechanism prevents from any accident injury while processing.

The 6-quarts size is a useful capacity for all-around uses. The fine-looking brushed stainless cast makes feel sturdy and stylish. The cleanup is breezy for the nonstick pot, while most assembly parts are dishwasher-safe. The Fast-Slow Cooker comes with heat-resistant spatula, serving spoon and measuring cup, the bonus.

For other points of view, this multi-cooker received Tester’s Choice award 2012 From Choice Magazine, Australia for being a 4 appliances in one pot. We’ve also found that almost reviewers from William-Sonoma gave this product positive comment.

What we don't like: Nearly $200 for a slow cooker is such a pricey. However, it’s worth if you plan to get a quality multi-cooker, which includes pressure cooking feature. Another caution, it doesn’t has handles which may hard to remove the inside pot when hot.

The bottom line: If you’re reluctant to find a most convenient tool for busy some or breezy home cooks –a slow cooker, a rice cooker, a roaster, a steamer or a pressure cooker, this muti-tasker pot may be your right answer as you’ll get it all. This Breville BPR600XL Fast-Slow brings the profit in each side in easier, faster, healthier and tastier result.
